About Online Screen Ruler

Engineering True 1:1 Digital Measurement

Welcome to Online Screen Ruler. We are a dedicated team of developers, designers, and measurement enthusiasts who believe that digital tools should be just as accurate, reliable, and tactile as their physical counterparts.

The Problem We Set Out to Solve

For years, measuring something physically against a computer monitor has been a frustrating experience. Most online rulers simply stretch an image of a ruler across your screen based on default CSS pixels. Because every laptop, monitor, and smartphone has a completely different hardware pixel density (PPI) and aspect ratio, these generic rulers are almost always wildly inaccurate.

Whether you are an engineer checking CAD dimensions, a designer verifying print scale, a student checking homework, or just someone trying to measure a ring or a screw without a physical tape measure nearby—you need exact optical precision. "Close enough" isn't good enough.

Our Engineering Approach

We built Online Screen Ruler from the ground up to solve the pixel-density problem using mathematics and physical constants.

"We don't guess your screen size. We reverse-engineer your display's hardware resolution against international physical constants (like the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 standard for credit cards) to establish a true, locked 1:1 scale."

By mapping logical viewport pixels to your device's exact Device Pixel Ratio (DPR) and hardware geometry, our drafting workspace ensures that 1 millimeter on your screen is exactly 1 millimeter in the real world.
